News You Can Use

FALL FEST: The sign-up sheets for the Fall-Fest Parking Lot and Sausage Booth are posted on the bulletin board in Church. Foyer.  This annual Labor-Day Weekend event is one of our most important fund raisers! Please sign-up to help in the Parking Lot or at the Sausage Booth.. If you can’t make it to church, just call or email the office and Kathy will be happy to pencil you in! The funds generated are vital to our Church, the parking lot has no overhead costs and the proceeds are 100% profit for the church. Please consider supporting our church by volunteering for this important mission!

DAYBREAK NEWS: Thank you to all who helped last time. I  very much appreciate donations of:  three gallons of juice or fruit drink, 2 gallons of milk and three cakes.   Our next serving date is: Monday September 6.    I will be preparing the food at church on this Monday; which is Labor Day.  I plan on cooking a meal this year and not using leftover sausage. Many of the people we serve at Daybreak do not eat pork.  We are blessed with two ways to serve in September! For anyone who is not participating in Fall Fest that Monday I would be very grateful if I could have three or four of the congregation help me serve the homeless at Daybreak on Labor Day. Thank you for your help and support.

A BINDING LOVE QUILTING GROUP:   Beginning to advanced, all sewers are welcome and encouraged to participate! Our next meeting takes place Wednesday, September 15.  We will begin to sew no later than 6:30 p.m. We are sewing Baby Quilts for Child-Serve!  For more information or questions, please contact Betsy Youdris. We would love to have you join us!

LITURGIST: We are looking for volunteers to participate in our Sunday Worship by reading the scriptures. You will receive the readings for the week by email on the Thursday or Friday before the Service. If you would like to find out more, please contact  the Church Office. To volunteer, please fill in your name on the sign in sheet on the bulletin board in the Church Foyer.

COFFEE HOUR: Thanks to all who have volunteered to host Coffee Hour this month! Thanks to your efforts,
August is full! Please sign up on the clip board in the Library for September and October.

SESQUICENTENNIAL CHURCH AWARDS BANQUET: On March 7, and thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Pam Bloom, Church Historian;  our church was honored to be among almost 100 Illinois Sesquicentennial Churches. We were pleased to be recognized for this accomplishment on the 150 year old campus of Wheaton College. Attending from Frankfort United Methodist Church were:
Donna and Roger Corp, Kay and Orville Bell, Kris Warning, Diane and Vern Sanborn, Ginny Griffin, and Kathy Hilton.   Church Historian Pam Bloom is pictured in the front row, right side.
